World Health Summit Regional Meeting 2024 – A Landmark Moment for Global Health in Our Region

From 22–24 April 2024, the World Health Summit Regional Meeting took place in Melbourne (Naarm), Australia for the first time, hosted by Monash University and proudly supported by the Australian Global Health Alliance as a strategic partner.

This milestone event brought together leading minds across policy, research, civil society, and health systems to explore urgent issues shaping the future of global health. With a focus on thriving communities, climate change, and geopolitics, the program sparked bold conversations and deepened regional collaboration.

Highlights included sessions on:

  • Achieving health equity for women and girls

  • Climate change and the health of Indigenous Peoples

  • First Peoples’ health and artificial intelligence

  • Geopolitics and health equity in a divided world

  • Net-zero and climate-resilient healthcare systems

  • One Health approaches, pandemic preparedness, and SDG leadership

The Alliance co-hosted sessions on the commercial determinants of health and an Intergenerational MasterClass on Health Policy and Leadership, reflecting our commitment to advancing health equity, climate and planetary health, and Indigenous-led approaches.
