The Australian Global Health Alliance is delighted to welcome Chemonics as its first international development managing contractor member. Chemonics’ commitment to partnership-led, evidence-based, and locally-grounded global health programming and collaborations is a natural fit with the Alliance’s own values, and we look forward to seeing them engage with the Alliance’s community, networks, and expertise to strengthen the work they do.

Chemonics is a global health and development managing contractor with decades of experience supporting governments, donors, and private sector partners to deliver large‑scale, high‑impact programs. They have implemented over US$28 billion in development programs across 1,400+ projects in more than 160 countries, drawing on a global network of 7,000+ professionals and partner organisations. Their work spans the full spectrum of global health, including service delivery, health systems strengthening, supply chains, workforce development, and health security, enabling them to support both routine systems strengthening and complex emergency responses.

A defining feature of their approach is how they work with others. As a managing contractor, they deliberately bring together technical leaders, researchers, implementers, local organisations, and private sector actors to deliver the best possible outcomes for our clients. They consistently find that engaging deeply with the broader global health ecosystem improves program quality, drives innovation, and ensures solutions are grounded in evidence and local context. This partnership‑led way of working is embedded across their portfolio and is central to how they deliver excellence for their donor and private sector clients.

Chemonics has a long track record of managing complex, multi‑partner global health programs and enabling others to do their best work within them. Their experience includes long‑term leadership across HIV, malaria, reproductive health, and public health emergencies, as well as systems‑focused reforms that strengthen national health institutions and community‑level delivery. Their programs are intentionally GEDSI‑sensitive, addressing structural inequities and supporting equitable and sustainable health outcomes.

Chemonics’ decision to join the Australian Global Health Alliance as its first international development managing contractor member reflects a genuine commitment to the Australian global health community and a desire to actively collaborate with Alliance members. They are keen to create practical opportunities for Alliance organisations and individuals to contribute their expertise, research, and people to programs that Chemonics manages on behalf of donors.

Working alongside specialised technical organisations, academic institutions, and locally‑embedded partners is core to how they operate globally. Through the Alliance, they see an opportunity to deepen these relationships in Australia—connecting Australian expertise to large‑scale global health investments, supporting Australia’s leadership in the region, and collectively advancing resilient, equitable health systems.

We look forward to facilitating the engagement of Chemonics with Alliance members, as they explore together how to deliver stronger outcomes for communities, governments, and donors through high‑quality, partnership‑driven global health programs.
