Global health in the 2024-25 budget

On Tuesday 14 May 2024, the Treasurer Jim Chalmers handed down the 2024-25 budget. Like every year, the Alliance attended DFAT’s budget night briefing, and produced our rapid analysis of Global Health in the budget. Overall, there were some important domestic and regional science and health initiatives announced across the budget will serve to further Australia’s global health leadership and impact, yet the Australian Global Health Alliance was concerned to see health de-prioritised via a $185m health sector funding cut in the DFAT budget, and some critical opportunities missed to advance health equity for all.
