CALL FOR EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST
Advisory Board member, Australian Global Health Alliance
The Australian Global Health Alliance (“the Alliance”) is the national peak body for global health organisations. Founded in 2016 on the principles of promoting partnership for health equity, sustainable development and that advancing First Nations health and Planetary Health are integral to global health work, we represent a diverse trusted network of members working across global health in the region and globally. We exist to support the global health community and aim to strengthen the Australian global health ecosystem and its unique global health leadership in the world, through regular exchange, and traditional and non-traditional partnerships in government, private sector and the arts.
The Alliance also hosts the Australian Network of 54 WHO Collaborating Centres, and Pacific Friends of Global Health, an advocacy partnership with Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, and the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.
The Executive Committee of the Alliance are currently seeking expressions of interest for our Advisory Board. Specifically, we seek members with leadership expertise in and outside of the health sector, with substantial experience or strong interest in global health. New members will bring strong sectoral experience from government, sustainable development, youth leadership, medical health leadership, research and science innovation, philanthropy, or the arts.
The Alliance is at a pivotal period in its growth, not only in the platforms it has built to engage sectors outside health, but also in its role in convening and supporting members to address the critical social challenges to health of our times and how to do this in a way that shifts power towards health equity. We seek individuals who align with and can strengthen our collective endeavour.
There is no geographical limit to our advisory but members with experience or a base in the Asia-Pacific region is encouraged. We particularly call for expressions of interest from leaders from First Nations and CALD communities and also warmly welcome individuals at all stages of a global health career, including student leaders and early career professionals.
Advisory Board members are required to attend 4x 2-hour board meetings per year (hybrid or in person), and provide strategic and advisory support to the Alliance secretariat and Executive Committee on an ad-hoc basis. The total time commitment is not expected to exceed 16 hours annually.
Please send your short bio and expression of interest or questions to Dr Selina Namchee Lo Executive Director selinanamchee.lo@unimelb.edu.au by 28 July 2023.
