The Australian Global Health Alliance Congress 2025

Doherty Institute Auditorium- 792 Elizabeth St, Melbourne April 3rd 2025
How do we reimagine global health for all, and what role does the Australian and regional global health community play? Who makes up this community? This year, we will highlight the key themes that the Australian Global Health Alliance has strategically committed to, bringing together experts and leaders to assess where we currently stand with these challenges and explore actions within our spheres of influence. As the global health community navigates the far-reaching consequences of shifts in U.S. foreign policy, including billions of dollars in research funding cuts, a new dialogue is emerging. Countries and regions now have an opportunity to sustainably and equitably shape the future. Through snapshot conversations, we will examine the climate emergency and planetary health, gender equality, and humanitarian crises. We will also showcase the benefits of financing global public goods by highlighting selected member-driven R&D innovations and research. This includes the Australian launch of the seminal Lancet Commission on Oxygen Supply, an often overlooked yet critical issue in the region. We are honoured to be joined by visionary thinkers at the forefront of global health, including:
  • Professor Adeeba Kamarulzaman, CEO of Monash University Malaysia and a distinguished AIDS and HIV expert
  • Hannah Ryder, Kenya-based CEO of Development Reimagined
Along with many other experts and leaders from the Australian global health network, this gathering will challenge perspectives, spark dialogue, and reimagine global health for all. Date: 3 Thursday April Time: 1:15pm - 5:30pm AEDT: Followed by Seye Abimbola's book launch and reception (afternoon tea provided) Where: This will be a hybrid event.
